Residents of Reno, Sparks and Washoe County are encouraged to register for the spring session of the Reno Citizens Institute (RCI) offered by the City of Reno.
RCI participants meet with elected officials, department directors and city staff to gain an understanding of city government. Activities include a mock planning commission meeting and a mock trial as participants take on various courtroom roles.
Participants also visit the 911 dispatch center, and a local fire department, to get understand the city’s public safety operations.
The free seven-week program is Tuesdays from 5 to 7 p.m. Classes begin February 3, 2015 and go through March 17, 2015.
The tentative schedule is:
February 3 – City Manager’s Office
February 10 – Parks, Recreation, and Community Services
February 17 – Reno Fire Department
February 24 – Reno Police Department
March 3 – Public Works
March 10 – Municipal Court and City Attorney’s Office
March 17 – Community Development/Code Enforcement/ Business License
March 25 – Graduation at the Reno City Council regular meeting
