Professional development short courses offered by Extended Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno provide University-quality educational opportunities to build your career and skills in a wide range of management and business topics, to keep on the leading edge of the latest trends and industry-specific issues, and to hone existing talents for career advancement. The noncredit courses may be taken independently and require no formal admission to the University. Most courses are held at the University’s Redfield Campus, 18600 Wedge Parkway in south Reno, and several are held on the University’s main campus, as noted.

 

Select courses have been approved for CEUs in a number of disciplines and/or for recertification credit hours toward PHR, SPHR or GPHR (Professional, Senior Professional or Global Professional in Human Resources) recertification through the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI). The University’s short courses and 10-course certificates in Human Resources Management or Supervisory Management provide valuable leading-edge and industry-specific training, evidence to employers of successful completion of a University-quality educational program, and an indication of professional achievement in one’s field. Current core courses and electives may be taken independently or applied to complete a full 10-course certificate. The University’s general professional development short courses may be taken independently to fit your immediate career goals, or applied toward the requirements of a 10-course Certificate in Supervisory Management or Human Resources Management and other certificates offered through Extended Studies. ONLINE! Graphics Professional Short Courses and Certificates

All the in-demand Adobe software courses have been developed and are now offered online by Extended Studies, in professional graphics, photography and video production (After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom, Premiere and Photoshop), providing opportunities to build a solid knowledge base and advance existing skills while studying anytime and anywhere. Seven online courses are available in four weeklong modules each, scheduled for Jan.-May 2015. Individual courses may also be combined to earn full four-course certificates in Graphics Professional Design, Graphics Professional Video or Graphics Professional Photographer.
