The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office continues their investigation involving the tragic death of a teenager, which occurred on Saturday, December 6, 2014 on Mama Bear Court in Cold Springs.
At this time, the Sheriff’s Office can confirm they are conducting an active criminal investigation, however the home owners are not considered suspects at this time.
Investigators have reason to believe drugs were a factor in the teen’s death. Detectives are waiting for toxicology reports from the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office, which may take an extended period of time to complete.
Due to the ongoing criminal investigation and the fact the death involved a juvenile, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office will not release additional information until toxicology results are obtained.
The Sheriff’s Office reminds parents to talk to their children about the dangers of drug use and encourages parents to watch for signs and symptoms of drug use and take appropriate preventative actions.
If anyone has any information to assist in this investigation, please contact the Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at (775) 328-3320 or Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900.
