Santa Crawl underage compliance operation results in 95% of establishments passing

Members of the Regional Street Enforcement Team (SET) conducted an underage alcohol compliance operation during this weekend’s Santa Crawl.

Two 20-year-old volunteers, one 18-year-old volunteer and one 19-year-old volunteer tried to purchase alcohol at 39 different participating Santa Crawl venues. Four non-participating liquor stores were also checked and passed.

The minor(s) were served alcohol at two of the 39 participating locations. The volunteers provided their actual state issued identification if they were asked for it, which identified them as underage patrons.

The following participating businesses passed the operation:

  • Thai Corner Café, located at 100 W. 2nd St.
  • Tonic, located at 231 West 2nd St
  • Our bar, located at 211 West 1st St.
  • Singer Social Club, located at 219 W. 2nd St.
  • El Cortez bar, located at 239 West 2nd St.
  • Cargo, located inside Whitney Peak Hotel/Casino at 255 N. Virginia St.
  • 3rd Street bar, located at 125 West 3rd St.
  • The Little Nugget, located at 233 N. Virginia St.
  • Doc Holliday’s, located at 120 E. 2nd St.
  • Chocolate Bar, located at 95 North Sierra St.
  • Duffy’s ale House (Freight House), located at 250 Evans Ave.
  • Pizza Reno, located at 26 W. 2nd St.
  • W. 2nd St. Bar, located at 118 W. 2nd St
  • Waterfall Bar, located at 134 W. 2nd St.
  • 7 Bar, located at 148 West St.
  • Five Star Lounge, located at 132 West St.
  • Sierra Tap House, located at 253 W. 1 St.
  • Imperial Lounge, located at 150 N. Arlington Ave.
  • Monolith Bar, located at 100 N. Arlington Ave.
  • Silver Peak Bar, located at 135 N. Sierra St.
  • Old Bridge Pub, located at 50 N. Sierra St.
  • Knitting Factory, located at 211 N. Virginia St.
  • Java Vino, located at 246 W. 1 St.
  • Noble Pizza, located at 239 W. 2nd St.
  • Sapphire Lounge (Harrah’s), located 219 N. Center St.
  • Dos Geckos (Cirucs Circus), located at 500 N. Sierra St.
  • Aura Lounge (Silver Legacy Casino) located at 407 N. Virginia St.
  • Rum Bullions (Silver Legacy Casino) located at 407 N. Virginia St.
  • Drinx (Silver Legacy Casino) located at 407 N. Virginia St.
  • Silver Baron (Silver Legacy Casino) located at 407 N. Virginia St.
  • Brew Brothers (Eldorado Casino) located at 345 N. Virginia St.
  • Sports Bar at the Circus Circus Casino located at 500 N. Sierra St.
  • Shooters, located at 434 N. Virginia St.
  • Lincoln Lounge, located at 306 E. 4th st
  • Abby’s Hwy 40, located at 424 E. 4th St.
  • 1864 Tavern, located at 290 California Ave.
  • 1 Up, located at 214 W. Commercial Row

The following businesses failed by serving alcohol to the minor. They received the listed citation:

  • Siri Bar, located in Siri Casino at 241 N. Virginia St. (Sale/furnish alcohol to minor)
  • Cal Neva Casino Bar , located at 38 E. 2nd St. (Sale/furnish alcohol to minor)

The following liquor stores were checked and passed the operation:

  • Silver Spur Liquor, located at 221 N. Virginia St.
  • Friends Liquor, located at 354 N. Virginia St.
  • Silver Smoke Liquor, located at 141 N. Virginia St.
  • DJ Liquor, located at 229 W. 2nd St.

The criminal penalties for serving alcohol to a minor and allowing a minor into a bar/saloon are misdemeanors, with a fine/bail of $500.00.

The Reno police department said that it would like to thank the businesses who successfully passed the compliance operation.
