— From November 13 through December 2, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office participated in a Click It or Ticket event to enforce seatbelt violations. This particular event resulted in 413 traffic stops; while the number of seatbelt violations was low, officers issued 250 tickets for speeding and/or cell phone violations. View the breakdown of citations issued here.

— The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the death of a teen at Mama Bear Court in Cold Springs. The death took place Dec. 6 and drugs are believed to be the cause. More details may be released after the toxicology reports come back.

— Sparks police and other emergency personnel responded to an industrial accident at 45 Vista Way, where a 33 year old male employee was found dead. It is believed an article of clothing caught on the machinery he was using, pulling the victim into the machine and killing him. No further information is being released at this time.

— On December 8, officers responded to a report of shots being fired on Booth Street. There were no injuries reported and the investigation is ongoing.

— On December 8, officers responded to a report of a home invasion on Moran Street. The suspect was seen kicking in the front door before entering the residence. Shannan Cassidy was arrested on charges of home invasion and burglary.

— On December 8, officers responded to a report of burglary/PCS/trafficking on Valley Road. Officers found the locks to the business’ entrance had been cut; the suspects were discovered inside the business. Two suspects were arrested on burglary/PCS/trafficking charges; one suspect was also charged with possession of burglary tools.

— On December 10, Reno police and REMSA personnel were dispatched to 4th and Lake Streets downtown, where it was reported a man in a wheelchair was unresponsive. Officers found the man deceased on arrival at the scene. After speaking to witnesses, officers learned the man had been in a physical altercation at a hotel on Center Street earlier in the evening. Randall Dahl was found and admitted to injuring the man; he was arrested on one count of open murder.

— On December 10, officers were dispatched to a strong arm robbery on North Virginia Street. The victim said he was asleep in his room when he awoke to being punched. The suspects fled with the man’s wallet and are described as male. There are no other identifying details at this time.

— On December 10, officers responded to a home invasion on Sunnyside Drive, where the suspects were seen entering the home through the backyard. Officers were able to make contact with the suspects as they were leaving the home, arresting both men.

— On December 10, Louise Magnum was arrested for a bomb threat at Sutro Street Bridge and the River.

— On December 10, officers responded to a knife victim on Tripp Drive. The victim’s wounds are not life-threatening and there are no suspect descriptions at this time.

— On December 11, officers responded to a report of possession of stolen property by a victim whose home had previously been burglarized. Rebecca Desilva was arrested on charges of possession of stolen property.

— On December 11, Nicole Ayala was arrested on charges of child neglect and possession of drug paraphernalia on Lake Street.

— On December 11, officers responded to a vehicle burglary on East Shore Drive, where a suspect was attempting to enter parked vehicles. Upon arrival at the scene, the suspect attempted to flee when officers tried to make contact. Kelly Albiani was arrested on vehicle burglary charges.
