On December 19, 2014 at about 2:30 p.m. a traffic accident occurred on South Virginia Street at Delucchi Lane, when a Jeep Cherokee struck a Daihatsu SUV. The crash seriously injured both of the occupants in the Daihatsu, who have been identified as 19-year-old Blaze Brucato and Andrew Cohan.

The driver of the Jeep, identified as 22-year-old Nicole Cote, was treated and released for minor injuries.

The Reno Police Department has learned that just minutes before this accident, the driver of the Jeep may have been involved in a hit-and-run accident. Blaze and Andrew are both still in the hospital, and at this time, neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information about this accident to contact the Reno Police Department Traffic Division at (775) 334-2141, or Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900, www.secretwitness.com, or text the tip to 847411 (TIP 411) keyword – SW.

The Reno Police Department wants to remind drivers that there is a significant increase in traffic around shopping malls for the holidays and to allow more time whether shopping or commuting home.

Do not talk or text on your cell phone while driving, and if you get frustrated, pull over, calm down and do not drive aggressively. Speeding, unsafe passing, as well as following too closely while repeatedly honking your horn at other drivers are all examples of aggressive driving.
