Deputies arrest suspect for attempted robbery of Sun Valley restaurant employee

david-calderon-240x300-5103841-5901580Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested an 18-year-old Sun Valley man Thursday  for the attempted armed robbery of a Sun Valley restaurant employee.

At about 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 25, 2014, deputies responded to a report that an employee of The Panda House Restaurant located at 5055 Sun Valley Boulevard had been threatened by a knife-wielding suspect while the employee was taking out the garbage.

According to deputies, the victim said that the suspect demanded money from him. After the victim insisted that he had no money several times, the suspect left on foot.

One of the responding deputies spotted a subject matching the suspect’s description in the area of Sun Valley Boulevard and 2nd Avenue. After further investigation, the subject, identified as David Calderon, was taken into custody and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on a charge of Attempted Robbery,

During the investigation, a second subject arrived on the scene and attempted to interfere with the deputies. After the subject, identified as Jose Martinez, age 24 of Sun Valley, failed to comply with instructions from the Deputies to leave the area, Martinez was arrested on a charges of intimidating an officer and obstructing and resisting.
