The Depot Craft Brewery and Distillery is grand opening this New Year’s Eve. Showcasing original brews, hand-crafted spirits and a prix fixe menu, the Depot is the first combined brewery and distillery in the state. It is located at 325 East Fourth Street inside the old train depot, adjacent to Louis Basque Corner.
Co-owners Brandon Wright, Chris Shanks and Justin Stafford have been restoring the building for over a year.
“We are excited to finally open the doors and let the community appreciate this beautiful old building,” said Shanks. “We strive to create all of our food and spirits in house, using local and seasonal ingredients, and we’re thrilled that we get to showcase our products and craft on New Year’s Eve.”
The four-course menu starts with Brussels sprouts and shishito peppers paired with The Ranch Hand American ale, kale salad or carrot soup with The Explorer American pale ale, entrée choices include fresh Atlantic salmon or braised short ribs paired with The Voyager a west coast IPA, and for dessert a chocolate brownie with espresso ice cream served with The Blacksmith stout. Opening night dinner is $80 per person with beer pairings and $60 without.
The historic 104-year-old three story train depot will be the state’s first combined brewery and distillery. Prior to renovations, The Depot was the headquarters for the Nevada-California-Oregon Railroad in 1910 and continued to serve the traveling public until 1937. Wright, Shanks and Stafford have left the décor similar to the time the Depot was built, including aged oak floors, exposed tile and brick as well as an outdoor beer garden.
