When Veteran Curtis Gregory completed his Air Force service in 2007, he started his business providing customized glass pieces for various occasions. His three small businesses began in his two-bedroom apartment. Running the business was a distinct challenge when he and his wife raised their first child. Materials like a giant sandblasting machine and boxes of glass products left little room for space as his company and family grew.
“So much of what I experienced in the service has contributed to my business discipline. I have been able to use strategic thinking and tactical decision making which I’ve used a lot as an airman,” Gregory said.
He has turned The Tipsy Grape, Glass with a Twist and Customized Weddings into nationally recognized and flourishing online glass-engraving businesses. Glass With A Twist is a general glass engraving company that engraves everything from champagne flutes to beer mugs, to wine decanters. The Tipsy Grape specializes in engraving only wine glasses and wine decanters. Customized Wedding engraves glasses that are designed for weddings.
He now has a staff of over 50 people and just moved to a 19,200 square foot location in Reno. Gregory moved locations as his businesses grew and has managed to turn his newest office into a creative thinking environment, which is unusual for normal production settings. This gives Gregory an edge in having a productive and dedicated staff.
