MINDEN — The Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park will open its annual exhibit of vintage toys and games on December 3-7. The exhibit, “Home Ranch for the Holidays,” is open to the public and presents children’s playthings from the 1860s through the 1940s.

The exhibit displays board and card games from the 1870s through the 1890s that were played with by Fred Dangberg, Jr., and his siblings, as well as numerous toys enjoyed by Fred’s five children and one grandson from the 1900s through the 1940s. These include a small wood-burning cook stove, a child’s drop-front desk and a miniature tea cart. A variety of dolls, handmade doll clothing and doll accessories will be shown. The creative side of children’s play will be explored through toys and games from 1900 to 1945.

The park’s store will be open, with a selection of jewelry, history books, photo notecards and other gifts. The park’s volunteers will also be conducting a your-choice raffle to raise money for the non-profit Friends of Dangberg Home Ranch.

The exhibit is open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on December 3-7. Admission is free, but donations are requested. Reservations are not needed.

The park is located at 1450 Highway 88, Minden, Nevada, just south of the Carson Valley Swim Center. More information can be found at www.dangberghomeranch.org or by calling 775-783-9417.
