When someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, many questions follow. And, not just on treatment for the neurological condition, but questions that affect everyday life.
Renown Health is hosting a panel discussion to help answer some of those questions. “Bringing Understanding to Alzheimer’s” is open to the public and takes place at the Atlantis Hotel Casino Spa Paradise Ballroom, 3800 Virginia St. It takes place from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12, with doors open at 11:30 p.m.
Leading the discussion will be Adel Aziz, M.D., neurologist at Renown Institute for Neurosciences, and Peter Reed, Ph.D., Director at UNR’s Sanford Center for Aging. These two experts will discuss the following:
- Maintaining well-being when living with Alzheimer’s
- How a person-centered approach to care, one that directly engages the individual as a partner, is optimal for effective support
- Understanding the signs and stages of the disease
- The latest research in prevention and treatment, including the link between low vitamin D and Alzheimer’s
- How to care for and support a loved one with Alzheimer’s, as well as giving support to caregivers
- Preparing to make short- and long-term legal and financial plans to address the condition.
The luncheon is open to the public. Cost is $10, check or cash at the door, and includes lunch. To RSVP, call 775-982-5400.
