St. Vincent’s seeking Christmas stocking donations for children in need

Date:

Catholic Charities & the St. Vincent’s Programs is asking community members for donations of pre-filled Christmas stockings for the children (ages 0-17) served by our ten poverty assistance programs. We will distribute the stockings at our tenth annual “Operation: Stocking Stuffer” holiday party in December. The stockings will go to 600 local children whose parents cannot afford to buy them presents. Many of the children we serve are either homeless, in low income housing complexes, or residing temporarily in local motels.

We are asking for pre-filled Christmas stockings that include toys, treats, etc. for the children served by the St. Vincent’s Programs. We will be distributing stockings to the following age groups: 0-2, 3-5, 6-9, 10-12 and 13-17. Please label the stocking with intended age and gender if you choose to donate.

Stockings can be dropped off at our St. Vincent’s Thrift Shop at 500 East Fourth Street (corner of Valley & 4th) in Reno, Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. We will also accept toys, candy, and cash donations to use toward filling empty stockings. Please do not wrap the items placed inside the stockings. No non-perishable food please. For more information about the Operation: Stocking Stuffer event, or to donate, please contact Auburn Harrison at (775)322-7073 ext. 235 or [email protected]. If you’re interested in signing your child up to receive a Christmas stocking, please contact Sandra Carrillo at 858-5251 or 858-5254.
