Shoppers are asked to donate a new pair of tennis shoes or boots for Washoe County School District’s Children in Transition. In exchange, these shoppers will receive a shopping pass good for discounts at participating locations.

Black Friday in Midtown takes place Friday, November 28, 9 am to 3 pm. The Sticks lot at 701 South Virginia Street serves as the donation collection hub.

WCSD Children in Transition helps Reno’s most vulnerable overcome barriers to education through a variety of services year round. The program assists homeless children, or those living in shelters, motels or multiple-family households. Black Friday in Midtown focuses on helping these kids get to school this winter with warm, dry feet.

To participate, shoppers are asked to donate a pair of new tennis shoes or boots, or a minimum of $20 cash. Drop the donations at The Sticks in Midtown and receive a limited edition Black Friday in Midtown Shopping Pass. Each participating business will offer discounts of a minimum of 15 percent off and host fun, family-friendly festivities. Passes will have logos of all businesses participating which can be marked off or punched once that businesses discount has been used.

In addition to warm footwear, Children in Transition also needs socks and gloves. For these items, CCM will have collection barrels set up at the event, and through December 15 at Craft Beer & Wine, Bruka Theatre and The Yoga Center.

Black Friday in Midtown runs 9 am to 3 pm, Friday, November 28.
