Toys for Tots trailer stolen in south Reno

Date:

On October 21, 2014 Reno Police Officers responded to the Marine Corps League 672 office at 3652 South Virginia Street on the report of a stolen trailer. Officers met with the Leagues employees who last saw the trailer on October 20, 2014. They reported to Officers the trailer hitch had been locked up but whoever stole the trailer had to snap off the lock.

The victims told Officers that the trailer contained numerous historical military uniform and uniform items that are very hard to replace, including an Order of the Purple Heart display. Also disturbing in this case is that trailer also contained toys meant for local needy children that the organization collects throughout the year.

The trailer is described as being a white 4’ X 6’ Carry-On Trailer that had approximately 30” diameter Marine Corps decals on the sides and rear door. When it was stolen it had Nevada Trailer Plates BB672 attached to it, but they may not be on the trailer any longer.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of the trailer and the suspects who stole it is asked to contact the Reno Police Department at (775) 334-2140 or Secret Witness at (775) 332-4900 or text the tip to 847411 (TIP 411) keyword – SW.

Toys for Tots also asks that anyone wishing to help make donations to replace the stolen toys to visit www.toysfortots.org or call (775) 622-7996 Monday through Saturday.
