NMA’s arts and flowers luncheon is Wed., Nov. 5, 2014

Date:

The Nevada Museum of Art today announced the 33rd annual “Arts & Flowers Luncheon,” scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa.

Presented by the Volunteers in Art (VIA), the Arts & Flowers Luncheon is a festive social event where attendees will enjoy a meal while shopping in a special “Artisan Mall” featuring distinctive, original and handcrafted holiday gifts from a variety of local and regional artists. In addition, guests will be able to bid in the Silent Auction, and can enter a raffle for themed gift baskets, long-time Arts & Flowers luncheon favorites!

The annual luncheon has become a Reno tradition, serving as an unofficial “holiday kickoff” for lovers of the arts. Some 26 artists from across the Western US will be displaying and selling their artisan-designed work, offering unique items ranging from vintage silver and handcrafted jewelry, to decorative crafts including ceramics, textiles/quilts and fused glass, to hand-turned wood, wind chimes and garden bells – as well as the event’s large, signature offering of holiday-themed gifts and décor. Proceeds from the event will benefit the exhibition and education programs of the Nevada Museum of Art, Donald W. Reynolds Center for the Visual Arts, E. L. Wiegand Gallery as well as special projects of the VIA Council.

“For so many in Reno, the Arts & Flowers Luncheon always signals the start of a festive and fun holiday season, and we are truly excited to have such a great lineup of artists presenting their unique, high-end items,” commented Ross Heppe, president of the VIA Council. “By attending the luncheon and getting an early start on their holiday shopping, art lovers can support artists from all over the West and help fund important programs for the museum – this is a win-win!”

Tickets for the event are $55 each, or $500 for a table of ten, and can be purchased at http://bit.ly/ArtsNFlowers. On the day of the event, the Artisan Mall opens at 10:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at 12:15 p.m. Pre-paid reservations are required by Oct. 31, 2014 and are limited to the first 500 guests. Special seating requests can be addressed to Margaret Walsh, Volunteer Manager by email or phone to [email protected] or 775.398.7218. A full list of the artisans and craftspeople displaying and selling work at the 2014 Artisan Mall is also available on the museum website.
