Locals and visitors alike are invited to experience a new way to shop when the long-awaited grand opening of the Great Western Marketplace in northwest Reno takes place on Black Friday, November 28. A soft opening will also take place from November 21 to 23.

A multitude of retailers, inventors, entrepreneurs, artisans, crafters, food purveyors and service providers will form the foundation of this new regional retail concept, which also will serve as a satellite broadcast location for Reno radio group Shamrock Communications.

“We are pleased to have our radio stations broadcasting live from the venue promoting this fantastic new concept,” asserts John Burkavage, general manager for Shamrock Communications in Reno.

“Great Western Marketplace is an outstanding entrepreneurial effort on the part of the developers and will give small businesses a new way to bring their products and services to market,” Burkavage stated.

Liberty Fine Arts Gallery will also open a second exhibit location within the new indoor marketplace. Spearheaded by local artist Rich Van Gogh, the gallery will rotate artists and their work, keeping the exhibits and art for purchase fresh. “If people liked our first gallery, they are going to love our new space at Great Western Marketplace. We will be featuring the best local artists just as before while also having guest artists,” conveyed Van Gogh.

With more being added weekly, among the varied array of vendors to be featured upon opening are a farmers market, “upcycled” and artistic home décor and jewelry from Transformations, gluten-free goodies made by Ms. Janet’s Baked Goods, Mayan-inspired artist Ricardo Barraca, handcrafted purses and jewelry by Odyssey & Yve, top-quality seafood by Freshway Fish, computer repair services by Friendly Computers, transformative and educational health consultation services by Recipe 2 Health, items to spoil any four-legged friend at My Nona’s Country Store, and many more.

Great Western Marketplace will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and is located at 4855 Summit Ridge Drive in Reno. For more information, visit GreatWesternMarketplace.com or call 775-624-1800.
