Reno Fire Department goes pink in support of “Breast Cancer Awareness Month”

renofiredepartment-pinkshirts-2014-300x224-5646515-2889912The Reno Fire Department will again be supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month during October 2014 by wearing pink uniform shirts that have a white ribbon on the left sleeve.

The Reno Fire Department is selling the shirts for $10 each, with the proceeds benefiting Moms on the Run, a nonprofit organization in Reno. Moms on the Run assists local breast and gynecological cancer patients during their treatments.

“Supporting our local citizens and charities is very important to us,” Fire Equipment Operator Brandon Blackbern says. “We also recognize Autism Awareness Month during April with special shirts.”

For more information, or to purchase a shirt, call Blackbern at 775-544-1926 or email him at [email protected]. The Reno Fire Department will be working a booth and taking shirt orders at the Susan G. Komen Northern Nevada Race for the Cure on October 5, 2014 at Grand Sierra Resort.
