Open-call auditions for A.V.A Ballet Theatre’s production of The Nutcracker

nc-7940362-3303465A.V.A. Ballet Theatre holds open-call auditions for The Nutcracker on Sunday, September 7, 2014, at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts, located at 100 South Virginia Street, in Reno (use Stage Door entrance on the corner of Center and State Streets).

There is a $10 audition fee per person. For more information call 775-762-5165.

Requirements:
• Girls and boys must at least be in the third grade or 8 years or older by September 1, 2014 in order to audition.
• Dancers of all levels of experience are encouraged to audition, however, three years of ballet training is recommended.
• Height requirements are listed below.
• Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to audition time in order to register and be measured.
• If your height is on a cusp, feel free to attend both or either audition.

Schedule:

• 12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m., girls 3’11” – 4’3″
• 12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., girls 4’3″ – 4′ 6″
• 1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m., boys and girls 4’6″ – 5′
• 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., boys and girls 5′ – 5’6″
• 3:15 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Corps de ballet men and ladies (ladies must be en pointe) 5’3″ minimum height
• 4:00 p.m. – 4:15 p.m., Ballroom Dancers – men and ladies (for the Party Scene)

The A.V.A. Ballet Theatre and the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra present “The Nutcracker” at Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, December 12 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, December 13 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and, Sunday, December 14 at 2 p.m.

A.V.A. Ballet Theatre is the resident ballet company of the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts. It is northern Nevada’s largest company under the instruction of a professional faculty with years of performing experience in renowned metropolitan ballet and production companies across the United States and Europe.

She has a bachelor’s degree in American history, with a minor in American Indian studies, from San Francisco State University, and has a master’s degree in public administration from Sonoma State University. She enjoys training a variety of martial arts.
