It’s a farmers market, it’s an ice carvings throw-down, it’s a learning event and it’s free to the public Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the Glenn Hare Center, 350 Hunter Lake Dr. in Reno across from the Boys and Girls Club. The hours are 11 am to 4 pm.
Sustainable products from farmers in Northern Nevada will showcase the farmers market. Fresh produce will be available for purchase.
Student chefs and student future farmers will be demonstrating their skills and knowledge with cooking demonstrations, agricultural projects – fresh eggs and flower arrangements – highlighting technical learning in Washoe County schools.
Professional chefs will offer cooking demonstrations and samples of trendy foods and tasting products like new edible grains showing up in grocery stores.
Some of the top chefs in the area will crank up power saws and turn a block of ice into a work of art with the chef’s ice carving throw-down starting at 11:30am.
There’s plenty of free parking and admission is free.
The event is presented by the High Sierra Chefs Association, representing chefs in northern Nevada and California since 1977.
