RTC NEWS — During the final hours of negotiations between drivers, mechanics and dispatchers for RTC RIDE and their employer MV Transportation, a tentative agreement has been achieved. This ensures there will be no disruption in service for the region’s transit service.th. th. This gave the parties more time to reach agreement on a contract. “We are very pleased both parties have reached an agreement,” said David Jickling, RTC Director of Public Transportation and Operations.
RTC was not a party to the negotiations. Negotiations involved the Teamsters Local 533 union representing the drivers, mechanics and dispatchers and MV Transportation. A federal mediator assisted during negotiations. The next step is for union members to ratify the agreement. Union leadership will recommend ratification to the membership and will vote on Sunday, August 10th.
Both sides negotiated in good faith since spring. An extension of one month was also agreed upon when the initial contract between MV Transportation and the union expired on June 30th.
