governor-sandoval-official-portrait-feb-2011-200x300-9953430-9598873WHO:  Statewide Steering Committee in favor of creating a Court of Appeals in Nevada.

WHAT: The Steering Committee will discuss the importance of passing Question 1 and urge Nevada voters to support the campaign for a Nevada Court of Appeals. This community and press event will be an opportunity to hear from individual committee members and Supreme Court Justice James W. Hardesty.

WHEN: Campaign kickoff and press event will begin at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014.

WHERE: Wiegand Center, Second Floor, 165 W. Liberty St., Reno.

WHY: The Nevada Supreme Court must hear appeals involving driver’s license revocations, prisoner disputes regarding the quality of their food or clothing, and all other appeals from the district courts.  A Court of Appeals would significantly reduce the Supreme Court’s backlog and wait-time for appeals and accelerate the Court’s ability to produce precedent setting published opinions.
