It is with heavy hearts that the staff of Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada & The St. Vincent’s Programs announces the sudden passing of our Development Director, Paul M. Laxalt.

“We are devastated over the loss of Paul. He was such a vibrant man who cared so much about making our community a better place. Through his many years of work at St. Mary’s as well as during his time with us, he made such a huge impact on local people and families.

We know Paul would have wanted us keep moving forward toward our goals of reducing poverty in the community, and we have every intention of doing that.  Every one of us will miss him dearly,” says Peter Vogel, CEO of Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada & The St. Vincent’s Programs.

Paul worked as Development Director at Catholic Charities for just under one year. During his time here, he was instrumental in increasing awareness about our ten poverty assistance programs, as well increasing grant funding and private support for our agency.

Paul spent the past several months working hard in the planning of the Plates to Ease Poverty benefit, scheduled for this coming Thursday, August 28th at 5:30 p.m. at Atlantis Casino Resort Spa. The event will go on as scheduled.

Paul is the nephew of former Governor Paul D. Laxalt. He is survived by his wife and two adult children. Details regarding a memorial service are forthcoming. For further questions regarding the life and legacy of Paul, please contact Paul’s sister, Meg Laxalt at (208)860-2606.
