AIGA Reno/Tahoe, the professional association for design, is hosting an evening filled with music, posters and a screening of the documentary, “Just Like Being There” on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at Lincoln Lounge.

The event will also feature screen printer and poster designer, Lil Tuffy and the owner of Rock City Posters, Scotty Roller.

The documentary, “Just Like Being There” made its debut at the 2012 South by Southwest conference (SXSW) and tells the story about the history and rise of gig posters. The film takes an intimate look into the artists behind them and the cultural impact of the once under-appreciated art form.

About Lil Tuffy
Lil Tuffy is best known for his minimal style, which relies heavily on typography and incorporates negative space. He creates limited edition, hand-screened posters for such bands as the Black Lips and Pavement, as well as many others. He also created the CBGB’s 30th anniversary poster.

About Rock City Posters
Rock City Posters is a Reno-based store and gallery featuring original screen-printed concert posters. Owner Scotty Roller is a musician and the proprietor of his own gig poster design studio, Scotty Roller Designs.

Admission to the event is $10 for AIGA members and $15 for non-AIGA members. To purchase tickets visit, https://renotahoe.aiga.org/event/just-like-being-there/.
