project_solution-300x199-1992313-8670172The Second Annual Hip-Hop Event: 5th Element is being held at Project Solution Community Complex,1090 Bresson Ave., on June, 21, from 4 – 10 pm.

The event will include dance competitions and performances, graffiti artist performances, live DJ’s, live music from a local band, food from local vendors, and a car show. The event founder and leader, Don Cruz, 21, wanted to create an event that welcomes all youth into a safe place for self expression in the arts.

Cruz said: “The hip hop culture in Reno is small and, at least to me, is segregated. I only hope that this event is a way to unite and change the perspective of hip hop.”

This event began in 2013 and aims to achieve three goals: teach youth the foundation of hip hop, unite the larger Reno community around the culture of hip hop and to grow and expand the talents of local hip hop artists.

The event will benefit Project Solution, an after-school and summer facility providing safety, positive role modeling, and educational programming for at-risk youth in central Reno.

Tickets are $5 for he pre-event dance workshop (includes admission); free community discussion; and $5 for main event general admission.
