Kids to Seniors Korner Program is inviting uninsured families to take advantage of early summer vaccinations. The KSK program, a part of Catholic Charities, offers free vaccinations to school age children regardless of insurance status.

The program is offered early to avoid the rush of student vaccinations before the start of school in August. Typically, the KSK program has difficulty meeting demand at the beginning of the school year.

“We can only take so many children at one time, so we ask that parents plan ahead and get their children vaccinated in June or July in order to avoid that August rush we see every year,” said Sandra Carrillo, KSK director.

The program is also offered to insured children, as some insurance companies don’t cover the cost of immunizations. The KSK program offers the same service in order to prevent avoidable disease, such as measles, chicken pox and hepatitis A.

In addition to the free vaccination service, KSK offers a mobile outreach team. The mobile team visits low-income neighborhoods, offering door-to-door immunizations, medical referrals, plus food and access to social service programs.

KSK mobile outreach sites and times are listed on the link below. For more information, or to schedule a vaccination, call 775-858-5251.
