CARSON CITY, Nev. — Anyone who wants to provide comments or share thoughts about the state’s arts and cultural needs can do so through July 15 through the Nevada Arts Council’s new online survey.

Information gathered from the surveys and from town meetings will be used to update the NAC’s Values & Vision strategic plan. The plan provides the foundation for the fall 2014 Arts Council Partnership Grant application to the National Endowment of the Arts. Hundreds of Nevadans already have participated at 13 town meetings held statewide in April and May.

“We encourage you to be candid, constructive and above all, creative,” Susan Boskoff, NAC executive director, said. “Public input is critical as we develop programs and services to support the work of Nevada’s artists and arts organizations, as well as those involved in community livability, education and cultural tourism.”

The survey is tailored for the user, so parents, artists, educators, organizations and others have a chance to answer questions relevant to their experiences. The survey is in both English and Spanish at nac.nevadaculture.org, along with the NAC’s current plan. Hard copies are available by calling 775-687-6680.

The Nevada Arts Council, a division of the Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, is the agency charged with ensuring that state and national funds support cultural activity and encourage participation in the arts throughout Nevada. In addition to providing hundreds of grants to arts and community-based organizations, schools, artists and local municipalities throughout the state, the NAC coordinates a variety of statewide program and activities such as the annual Poetry Out Loud recitation competition for high school-aged students, traveling exhibits, artist residencies, workshops and cultural assessments.
