We’ve compiled some wonderful events and workshops supporting charity, helping build your summer garden, and more! Here are some of our top picks for May:
  1. Made in Tahoe |  11 a.m. – 7 p.m. May 24 – 25 at  Village at Squaw. All things that are made around Lake Tahoe & Truckee will be showcased including live music, creative expression, designer products, local food, beer, wine, and more. For details, visit the Squaw Valley website.
  2. Spring Mela |  4 – 8 p.m. Sunday, May 4 at the Neil Road Recreation Center in Reno. The India Association of Northern Nevada (IANN) will host this wonderfully entertaining evening to encourage the community to showcase any type of talent or cultural performance. There will be food, cultural booths, live entertainment, and more. For details, visit the IANN website.
  3. Strange Brew Festival | 3 – 9 p.m. Saturday, May 3 at The Brewer’s Cabinet in Reno. Taste offerings from local breweries only available at this festival plus strange and uncommon beers, in many cases specially crafted for this event. The event will be complemented by live music from local bands and a tasty BBQ too. For details, visit The Brewer’s Cabinet website.
  4. JDRF Vision Gala: Wild for a Cure | 6 – 10 p.m. Saturday, May 3 at John Ascuaga’s Nugget in Sparks. Enjoy this inspiring gala event to benefit JDRF, an organization working to cure Type 1 Diabetes. For details, visit The Northern Nevada JDRF website.
  5. Salute to Women of Achievement | 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 29 at John Ascuaga’s Nugget in Sparks. The Nevada Women’s Fund celebrates women for their professional and personal community commitments through this annual luncheon. For details, visit Nevada Women’s Fund website.
Look for us in June. We’ll be snacking on fresh fruit and summer vegetables from the garden. In the meantime, watch for the summer edition of the magazine, hitting stands on May 10. Pick up a copy at one of our partnering locations or — better yet — subscribe today.
