RPD NEWS RELEASE

1300123_fff2-7827870-1409765The Reno Police Department recently assigned Tim Broadway as its public information and community engagement officer, the first uniformed officer to hold the position.

Broadway is responsible for coordinating media relations for the Reno Police Department and releasing police-specific information in a timely manner, including via social media. A police officer with the city of Reno since 2005, Broadway has experience as a patrol training officer, crisis intervention and negations team member, and Neighborhood Watch coordinator. He is also a member of the department’s Leadership Innovation group.

Broadway also brings to the job a distinguished 25-year military background, serving the U.S. Air Force and Nevada Air Guard as an aircraft loadmaster and maintenance expert. To date, he has more than 3,200 hours of flight time in the C-130 Aircraft and numerous deployments overseas in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom. In June 2012, he was promoted to the rank of chief master dergeant, an achievement attained by only 1-2 percent of military members.

Particularly in crisis and emergency situations, Broadway will work closely with the Office of Communications & Community Engagement, which handles the broader public-relations efforts for the city of Reno. This includes the Reno Fire Department among many other city departments.
Broadway’s position also handles project development and coordination, special-event planning, report writing and research.
