CITY OF RENO NEWS RELEASE

header-logo-8974035-9105918The cty of Reno is seeking public input on possible design and operations options related to converting the former Northgate Golf Course property into a community park called Sierra Vista Park.

Interested area residents are invited to complete a short survey by 5 p.m. Pacific on Friday, April 18, to assist with the site plan. The survey can be accessed here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/sierravistapark.

Tentative plans for Sierra Vista Park in northwest Reno include a network of non-motorized trails around the property; however, there are opportunities for other outdoor recreation opportunities and potential reuse of the former clubhouse and adjacent property.

In addition, two open houses will take place later this month. City of Reno staff will be available on site to present design options and answer questions. The public will also be able to take self-guided tours of the Sierra Vista Park property.

The dates and times for the open houses are:

  • Thursday, April 17, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The site will remain open until 7 p.m. for self-guided tours.
  • Tuesday, April 22, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The site will remain open until 7 p.m. for self-guided tours.

Conceptual plans will be further developed at an upcoming two-day community design workshop on Friday, April 25, and Saturday, April 26, at Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center. The survey, open houses and workshop support one of Reno City Council’s top priorities to enhance communication and community engagement.
