Reno, NV March 4, 2014 – During a time when Reno is struggling to figure out its image, the organizers of the Second Annual Leprechaun Crawl says there is one area where no other city can compete is Reno’s ability to party. According to people in charge of the crawl, which is scheduled to bring together local taverns and casinos downtown on March 15th, this event has the potential to boost tourism the same way the Santa and Zombie crawls do each year.

While he supports recent efforts to bolster Reno’s image in media, crawl organizer Ed Adkins says there are strengths in Reno that are often overlooked by public relations people but locals and tourists know them well. “There are two words that illustrate one major advantage we have over other destinations in our area,” says Adkins, “and they’re ‘last’ and ‘call.’” He cites the city’s 24-hour nightlife, nearly 50 different bars within walking distance to each other and the quirky off-beat image of Reno as strengths, not weaknesses.

Organizers of the event that plans to bring thousands of revelers to downtown to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day early promise a night of fun events that are more than just drink specials. “These crawls are massive costume parties held in a city that’s better suited to host them than anywhere else,” continues Adkins, “and the 22 participating venues are going all out all night with Irish bands, a $500 costume contest, little leprechaun performers, even baby-oil wrestling and a huge beaver dressed in green giving out prizes from bar to bar.” When asked why there’s a beaver Adkins says it’s a surprise and people will have to attend the event to find out.

Those interested in participating are encouraged to purchase a five dollar commemorative map available at Junkee Clothing Exchange and several other local retailers as well as online. Cups will also be available on the night of the event at Waterfall and Silver Legacy downtown. Special rates are available at Silver Legacy and Sands Regency as an incentive to stay downtown and avoid driving. Organizers stress that individuals are encouraged to stay safe, drink responsibly, obey the law and have a great night in the biggest little city.
