Reno accepting applications for police recruits

1300123_fff2-150x150-7921632-1150148The city of Reno’s Police Department is happy to announce that we are currently accepting applications for the position of police recruit.  Our police department is nationally recognized as a model for community-oriented policing and problem solving.  We are committed to our community and as a model of policing excellence.

We are currently looking for a diverse pool of qualified applicants who have a unique blend of traits and characteristics to include empathy, effective communication, compassion and the ability to relate to people on a personal level.

Upon selection, recruits will attend the Northern Nevada Law Enforcement Academy.  Recruits attending the academy will be paid as city of Reno employees and receive a beginning wage of $51,000 per year and full time medical, dental and vision benefits after 30 days of employment.  The department will issue the majority of the equipment needed while in the academy.

The minimum requirements for interested persons to apply are:

  • You must be a citizen of the United States by March 31, 2014
  • You must be at least 21 years of age by March 31, 2014
  • You must have a high school diploma or GED certificate by March 31, 2014

The Reno Police Department is accepting applications through March 31. Testing will occur April 28 through May 2.  All those interested in a career with the Reno Police Department are encouraged to apply at the city of Reno’s website at www.Reno.gov.  This link will also take you to the Reno Police Department’s recruitment website where informational and examination preparation booklets are located.
