SPARKS, Nev. — The Nevada Department of Agriculture today announced its newly created Buy Nevada brand program to promote Nevada food and agriculture.
“Buy Nevada has been in planning for more than a year,” said Jim Barbee, director of the Nevada Department of Agriculture. “We have been actively seeking to have a program that promotes the state’s food and agriculture industry as a whole because of the Department’s statutory mandate to advance Nevada agriculture.”
Buy Nevada promotes food and agriculture businesses such as food processors, small farmers, large growing operations, restaurants, retailers and distributors.
The recently released study on the economic impact of the agriculture industry to the state – estimated as having a $5.3 billion impact – demonstrated the importance of recognizing Nevada’s diverse agriculture sectors and the longstanding contribution to the state’s economy.
First Lady Kathleen Sandoval expressed support for the program.
“As Nevadans look to make healthy dietary choices, we hope you will also Buy Nevada food and agriculture products,” she said.
Buy Nevada has tiered memberships ranging from free to higher-level sponsorships. Money received into the program will further promote Nevada food and agriculture businesses. Businesses may sign up online: http://buynevada.org/membership/join/.
