DON GUSTAVSON NEWS RELEASE
Senator Don Gustavson (R-SD14) has officially announced his decision to run for re-election in Senate District 14 in 2014. The following is his statement:
“Today I am formally announcing my intent to maintain the senate seat I currently hold because I am invested in Nevada – I raised my children here and now my grandchildren are being raised here. Nevada is home and I carry that home in my heart when I travel to Carson City to legislate with 62 other members of the Nevada Legislature.
“The unceasing rate of unemployment and home foreclosures in Nevada is overwhelming and unacceptable. The constituents I serve are steadfast that an expansion of government that is intrusive and burdensome is counterproductive to creating a business friendly environment that encourages existing businesses to expand and new companies to move here.”
“My constituents trust me to continue my work with other lawmakers to promote legislation that trims bureaucratic red tape and helps foster the creation of new jobs in this state. It’s time once and for all to allow Nevadans to be exposed to an environment that spreads economic opportunities and expands free enterprise that embraces an atmosphere where businesses can thrive and families can prosper.
“The citizens of this state want their leaders to get serious about their role in government. Nevadans elect their leaders to serve the people, not the other way around. They expect their legislators to dedicate themselves to developing ways to make government more efficient and more mindful of the way tax dollars are managed.
“Nevadans are telling their elected officials it’s time to prioritize and turn the economy around in this state. Lawmakers are allowed 120 days to finish their work in Carson City. They should look at every bill they introduce and ask questions such as, ‘Will this bill help to nurture the creation of real jobs? Will this bill spur valid economic growth? Will this bill attract new companies and entice existing businesses to grow and flourish? Will this bill increase government efficiency and reduce the taxpayer’s burden?’ If the answer is no, then it’s probably utilizing valuable time. Nevadans deserve better. I look forward to being their servant once again and tackling the important issues on their behalf.”
Don Gustavson serves Senate District 14 – Esmeralda, Humboldt, Lander, Mineral, Nye (part), Pershing, Washoe (part).
