May Museum’s annual Tuba Christmas Concert. This free, family-friendly event features classic holiday carols arranged in four-part harmony and performed by local tuba, baritone, and euphonium players. The Wilbur May Museum will have festive decorations on display and children can try a holiday scavenger to win a prize. Hot cocoa, cider, and cookies will also be available.

A Tuba Christmas Concert is Saturday, December 7. Doors open at 10:00 a.m., and the concert begins 3:00 p.m. at the Wilbur D. May Museum, in Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, 1595 N. Sierra Street, in Reno. Admission is free. For more information call 775-785-5961, or visit www.maycenter.com

All area tuba, baritone, and euphonium players are invited to participate in the Tuba Christmas Concert. Musician registration begins at 12:30 p.m. and musician rehearsal begins at 1:00 p.m. The participant registration fee is $10.00.

Tuba Christmas performances are held each year all over the world, but this is the only event in Northern Nevada. The first Tuba Christmas was conducted in New York City’s Rockefeller Plaza Ice Rink in 1974. The musical event celebrates those who play, teach, and compose music for instruments in the tuba family.

Located within Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, the Wilbur D. May Center is managed by the Washoe County Community Services Department and continues to receive generous support from the Wilbur May Foundation.
