VIRGINIA CITY TOURISM COMMISSION NEWS RELEASE – The Virginia City Tourism Commission is seeking entries for the annual Parade of Lights, held December 7, in historic Virginia City, Nevada. Starting at 5:00 p.m. at the Fourth Ward School, the parade travels the length of C Street lighting up shops and buildings as the parade passes, concluding at the Visitors Rest Area. While most communities light a Christmas tree, this Comstock community is lighting and placing a star at the top of the town’s large headframe, located at the north end of town at the Visitors Rest Area.
Parade entrants are encouraged to be creative and light up their float with Christmas cheer. Judges award prizes for best float, best use of lights, best musical entry and more. The cost for entries is donation only.
Any organization, musical group, school band, car group, charity, animal group, etc. interested in being a part of the parade should call Karen Woodmansee at 775-345-5803.
