Volunteers needed to bring daffodils to life Saturday

maycenter_logo-8234616-7313041Winter is still months away, but the staff at the Wilbur D. May Arboretum are already thinking about next spring! Volunteers are needed to help plant 4,000 daffodil bulbs on the annual Community Bulb Planting Day.

Park staff will show you how to plant and care for daffodils. With your help, the bulbs will bloom next year bringing a bright burst of color to the grounds.

Supplies and refreshments will be provided. The annual Community Bulb Planting Day is sponsored by the May Arboretum Society, Rail City Garden Center, 780 KOH Talk Radio and Costco.

When:             10:00 a.m. – Noon on Saturday, Nov. 2

Where:            Wilbur D. May Arboretum, Rancho San Rafael Regional Park

If you can’t join us but would like to support the Arboretum you can help by sponsoring bulbs! $20 will purchase 20 bulbs, $30 – 30 bulbs, $40 – 40 and $50 – 50 bulbs. Make checks payable to the May Arboretum and mail to Wilbur D. May Arboretum, 1595 N. Sierra Street, Reno, NV, 89503. Or you can stop by Rail City Nursery to sponsor your bulbs for the arboretum. All proceeds benefit the preservation and conservation of the arboretum

Located within Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, the Wilbur D. May Center is managed by the Washoe County Community Services Department and continues to receive generous support from the Wilbur May Foundation.
