reno-logo-3416243-7697340Reno Fire Department investigators have arrested a registered arsonist and are seeking the community’s help with information.

On Sept. 17, the Reno Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 100 block of Wonder Street. Reno Fire investigators concluded the fire was intentionally set in the basement of the vacant property. After a thorough investigation, Mike Malucelli, 49, was arrested on Sept. 20 for the crime of second degree arson.

“We have had a series of arson fires in the area of Wells Avenue since 2009,” advises Reno Fire Department investigator Tray Palmer. “The fires have all been similar in nature, and indicators suggest that at least some of the fires were set by the same person. With this recent arrest and investigation, we are reopening up these arson cases and hope that the community can help us by providing any information they might have about the fires.”

Anyone having information relating to these crimes or the suspect should contact Reno Fire Department investigators at 334-2300, Secret Witness at 322-4900 or www.secretwitness.com, or text the tip to 847411 (TIP 411) keyword – SW.
