According to the National Association of Manufactures, manufacturing is one of the backbones of Nevada and accounts for 86 percent of the state’s exports. To help support an industry steadily growing despite the economy, the upcoming Sierra Region Manufacturers Conference will discuss topics to help companies go from Surviving to Thriving.

Northern Nevada Development Authority, EDAWN and Nevada Industry Excellence have partnered to bring the Sierra Region Manufacturers Conference to Carson City Oct. 9 at the Carson City Nugget Casino, with some of the most expert speakers in the field.

Manufacturing is crucial for economic development, and the Nevada Business Magazine wrote, “Bolstered by visionary entrepreneurs, a solid workforce, smart tax policies and a state government that mostly knows when to help and when to get out of the way, the world is increasingly calling on Nevada companies to provide the products and services it needs and wants.”

The conference will address topics all manufacturers consider vital to the pulse of their company: Operational Strategies, Human Resources, Energy Efficiency’, and Business Growth.

Operational Strategies will discuss Lean Manufacturing, How to Coach and Train Today’s Workforce and Cyber Security.

Human Resources will discuss Best Practices in Outsourcing, Developing Effective Leaders, Skills Certifications and Employee Retention.

Energy Efficiency will discuss Case Studies for Energy Efficiency Upgrades and Solutions, as well as Energy Rebate Programs.

Business Growth will discuss Exports, Building Business Value While Reducing Risk, Launching an Expansion, Foreign Trade Zones, Succession Planning and MUCH more.
