A mixed media art exhibition begins November 7 at Java Jungle. ‘WHAT I SEE’, by local artist and painter Richard Layton, is a collection of acrylic/oil and mixed media paintings that feature dramatic scenes of foliage and silhouetted objects of contemporary appeal.
“I am motivated by remembering places I love and my fascination with how one tree or a simple branch can change a view into something breathtaking,” said Layton. “I choose to do multi-canvas works for the contemporary appeal. It forces one to look at the entire painting in sections and as a whole simultaneously.”
The exhibit begins with a reception from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. It is free and includes special discounts for wine, food and beer.
The reception is at Java Jungle, 246 West First Street. Information: http://www.javajunglevino.com/ or call (775) 329-4484.
