The Washoe County Senior Services Department and community partners will host two free health events Oct. 10 and Oct. 17 at the Senior Center on Ninth St. in Reno.
Flu Shots and Immunizations for Children
WHAT: The Kids to Seniors Korner outreach program will help provide free immunizations for children, assistance with community resources and free flu shots for adults and children. Kids to Seniors Korner is a public based and private partnership which includes the Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada, the Reno Police Department, the Washoe County Health District, Washoe County Senior Services, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and Washoe County Social Services. The program provides community-based outreach to at-risk populations such as low-income children, families and senior citizens.
WHEN: Thursday, Oct. 10, 8 a.m.-noon.

Prescription and Syringe/Sharps Roundup
WHAT: Bring old prescriptions, insulin syringes or other sharps, needles and points for proper and safe disposal. Free to the public, this roundup is sponsored by Join Together Northern Nevada, REMSA, the Reno Police Department, Washoe County Senior Services and Save Mart Supermarkets.
