County Senior Services invites public to Master Plan meeting Oct. 16

washoe-150x150-4272103-3216860The Washoe County Senior Services Department will host a Master Plan listening session Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. in the Washoe County Health Department Board Room.

The Master Plan focuses on how the county can best meet the needs of seniors now and in the future. The meeting is for seniors and caregivers in the community to discuss the needs and types of services they believe will be helpful to them and is open to all Washoe County residents, particularly those who are frail, disabled or low income.

WHO:  The Washoe County Senior Services Department invites the community to participate in the Master Plan’s development. More than 100 individuals and organizations are currently involved in a series of work sessions to define the Master Plan.

WHAT: Washoe County Senior Services is developing a Master Plan for Aging Services to guide the community as it ages as a result of the Baby Boom generation. This is a permanent demographic shift, as in 2010 there were 76,000 people over the age of 60 in Washoe County. In 2020, the number is projected to be 100,000 and will rise to 130,000 by 2030.

WHERE: The Washoe County Health Department Board Room on the first floor of Building B of the Washoe County Administrative Complex, 1001 E. Ninth Street in Reno.
