After notching first win of the season, Coach Polian and Pack face daunting task in No. 10 Florida State

(AP) – Cody Fajardo threw effi ciently, completing 18 of 21 passes for 239 yards, and Nevada rolled over UC Davis 36-7 on Saturday night. Nevada (1-1) avenged a season-opening loss at No. 21 UCLA with a commanding win over UC Davis (0-2) in its home opener. Brian Polian won his first game as coach of the Wolf Pack.  Fajardo scored the first touchdown of the game on a 7-yard run and later completed a 40-yard TD pass to Richy Turner to help Nevada build an early lead. Kendall Brock gained 116 yards on the ground and scored the fi rst two rushing touchdowns of his career to help the Wolf Pack off ense. The Aggies lone TD came on a Tom Hemmingsen reception from Jimmy Laughrea late in the first half to make the score 20-7 The Nevada defense intercepted Hemmingsen twice and held the Aggies to 3 of 12 on third-down conversions.

Now 1-1, the Nevada football team hits the road again this week to face No. 10/9 Florida State in a nationally televised (ESPN) matchup at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Fla., on Saturday.  Some details about the matchup:
– This is Nevada second road game at a nationally ranked foe already this year
– This is the first ever meeting between the teams and Nevada has never played a game in the Sunshine State
– This is the second straight season Nevada has played a team from Florida (South Florida in Mackay Stadium last year)
– Nevada returns four players who earned All-Mountain West honors a year ago in WR Brandon Wimberly (fi rst team), QB Cody Fajardo (second team), DE Brock Whacking (second team) and OL Joel Bitonio (honorable mention)
– Wimberly has caught a pass in all 42 games of his career – the longest streak in the nation
– This is the third of four non-conference games for Nevada and three to open the year
– Nevada returns 14 starters and 34 letterwinners from the 2012 team that went 7-6 overall.
