MOANA NURSERY NEWS RELEASE
Sept. 14: Extending the Growing Season
Quite a season behind us, but believe it or not, we still have at least 2 more months left to grow. Learn what you need to be doing in your garden now to make the most of your efforts: successive plantings, row covers, hoop houses, fall crops, cover crops, planting onion seeds for next year and more. Join our plant doctor, horticultural consultant, certified arborist and longtime high desert gardener Lisa Braginton as she shares her knowledge and personal experiences.
Sept. 21: Fall Container Seminar
Join Moana Nursery’s Seasonal Planting Specialist Leslie Richardson for a demonstration of how to design and plant a fall container that will last until November. Leslie has gardened in Vermont, Pennsylvania and Nevada and has extensive experience in residential landscaping — designing, installing, and maintaining container plantings, seasonal displays and perennial gardens.
Containers are her specialty; she loves trying out new plant combinations and getting people excited about their outdoor spaces. Leslie is eager to share design and planting tips that you can apply any where in your garden along with a primer on spring blooming bulbs. Seminar will be held at the Moana Lane Store instead of in the Landscape and Design Center.
Sept. 28: Winterizing Roses and Flowering Shrubs
Jon Bruyn (Moana plant doctor, certified arborist and high desert gardener) will present expert tips and techniques for preparing your roses and flowering shrubs for the winter. Included in the presentation are: NOT pruning before winter, minimizing damage, watering routines and winter mulching. This is one of our most popular seminars, so be sure to arrive a bit early.
All seminars are free and held at Moana Nursery, 1190 W. Moana Lane, in our Landscape and Design Center unless otherwise stated. Seminars begin promptly at 10 a.m. and last one hour. Please arrive 15 minutes early as seating is limited to 60 and is first come, first served. Visit www.moananursery.com or call (775) 825-0602 for more information.
