“The Discovery relies heavily on the support of volunteers,” said Stephanie D’Arcy, Discovery volunteer coordinator. “These dedicated individuals play an integral part in the exciting things that happen on a daily basis at The Discovery. Their commitment helps keep the museum engaging.”

There are many different volunteer opportunities available, with positions to fit each person’s individual interests. The museum floor offers endless opportunities for those interested in educating children and include leading museum activities, assisting with birthday parties and interacting with families in the museum’s galleries. Additionally, volunteers who are enthusiastic about the museum can help The Discovery team with community outreach and awareness. Lastly, individuals can help with administrative work and special events. The Discovery is also seeking high school and college students interested in interning at the museum. Interns will learn useful skills, earn volunteer hours, develop a resume and have a great time in an innovative, positive, and above all, fun atmosphere.

The open house is a great way to learn about different positions, internship opportunities and what it means to volunteer for The Discovery. The Discovery is located at 490 S. Center Street, Reno. For more information about volunteer opportunities available at The Discovery, visit www.nvdm.org.
