block_n-9024775-8955734Aug. 29, 2013 – Set to kick off free anniversary events in Fall 2013, the Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center at the University of Nevada, Reno will soon be celebrating 50 years of bringing the universe to town. As the Planetarium staff plans events to mark the 50th anniversary in November, they have a special request of their northern Nevada neighbors.

“Lots of kids in Reno, Sparks and Carson City grew up with the planetarium, through school field trips and family visits,” said Dan Ruby, Fleischmann’s associate director.  “We would like to capture how the Planetarium has affected so many visitors, young and old, over these 50 years, and we’d love to hear from folks who wish to share photographs, stories and/or memorabilia from their time visiting us on the University of Nevada campus.”

Community members with memories, photos and history to share can contact Dan Ruby at Fleischmann Planetarium at [email protected] or by calling (775) 784-4812. The Planetarium’s Facebook page and website will soon include a growing collection of historic memorabilia.
