GIRL SCOUTS OF THE SIERRA NEVADA NEWS RELEASE – Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada is opening nominations to northern Nevada’s top women leaders, to be honored at the 11th annual TRIUMPHANT: Celebrating Women In Leadership Awards Ceremony. This year’s event will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa. Nominations will be accepted through July 31, 2013.
“In the past we have had a nomination panel, but this year we are opening up the nomination process,” said Pam Czyz, Director of Development and Communications for Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada, “there are thousands of deserving local women, and we would love for the community to get involved.”
Five women will be honored, one in each of the five categories that represent the five focus areas of Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada: Healthy Living; Financial Literacy; STEM – science, technology, engineering and math; Environmental Leadership and Responsibility; and, Community Service.
“We are looking for those women leaders who have made significant contributions to our community and are role models for girls today,” said Julia Ratti, Chief Executive Officer of Girl Scout of the Sierra Nevada. “Women who demonstrate courage, confidence and character while making our community a better place for us all.”
2012’s honorees include: Krys Bart; Dr. Amy J. Khan, MD; Stacey Crowley; and, Caryn Swobe.
