NNMC launches cardiac device clinics – exercise and travel first topic scheduled

nevadaNORTHERN NEVADA MEDICAL CENTER NEWS RELEASE – The Heart and Vascular Institute at Northern Nevada Medical Center is hosting a free clinic for patients with cardiac devices such as a pacemaker, defibrillator or heart valve implant. The topic will be exercise and travel. Patients with cardiac devices face inevitable, but manageable, lifestyle changes. NNMC Cardiology Nurse Laurie Newmark, RN, will discuss the “dos and don’ts” of exercise and travel for patients with cardiac devices.

The seminar will be held Friday, July 12, from noon to 1:00 p.m., at the Sparks Medical Office Building, 2385 E. Prater Way, Suite 201.  Healthy snacks will be provided.  Registration is required. Call 775-356-6662 (NNMC) to RSVP.

The Cardiac Device Clinics will continue on the monthly basis on the first Friday of the month. Future topics will address what patients with cardiac devices need to know about undergoing medical procedures and how electronics can impact a person’s cardiac device.
