Hundreds of thousands of people will roam the streets in hot rods, muscle cars and roadsters and more and timeless entertainment will take crowds back to the decades when rock and roll controlled the airwaves. The event gets underway in Tahoe South on Friday, Aug. 2 and Saturday, Aug. 3 before it fills the streets of Reno and Sparks Tuesday, Aug. 6 thru Sunday, Aug. 11. In addition to the incredible restored vehicles, the event will play host to a variety of car-industry celebrities, more than $100,000 in Show-n-Shine prizes and the inaugural Hot August Nights Auction presented by Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions™.

“Hot August Night has longtime been the perfect place to reminisce and celebrate one of the greatest eras of the 20th century,” said Tony Marini, executive director of Hot August Nights. “And this year, with so many of the foremost names in the car industry coming to northern Nevada, the region will surely become the premier destination for classic and collector car enthusiasts.”

Back by popular demand, are the thrilling Drag Races and Burnouts at John Ascuaga’s Nugget starting Wednesday, Aug. 7. This exhilarating event allows drivers, with a need for speed, to prove it on the race track. Spectators will get a thrill from watching these rubber-burning hot rods race around the track. If front row isn’t enough, then take it to the front seat of a new Ford or Chevy vehicle. The Ride and Drives, sponsored by Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Co., take participants on a “white knuckle” ride around a professional style track. The Ride and Drives are set to take place at Atlantis Casino Resort Spa and Grand Sierra Resort and Casino.

As the sun sets on the freshly waxed paint jobs and the rumble of powerful engines fill the night air, memorable entertainers like Paul Revere and the Raiders, Tower of Power, The Righteous Brother’s Bill Medley and Jack Dempsey Band, among others, will take to the stage, impressing crowds with their unforgettable sounds.

Further, as part of a significant partnership, Barrett-Jackson will present the inaugural Barrett-Jackson Cup™ which will award $40,000 in prizes to five winners, the largest known prize purse dedicated to a Show-n-Shine. The prestigious award will be one of the many highlights of the Hot August Nights Auction presented by Barrett-Jackson which takes place at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center Thursday, Aug. 8 thru Saturday, Aug. 10, and will offer car aficionados an opportunity to bid on some of the most recognizable and historic automobiles in the world. Additionally, spectators are likely to catch a celebrity siting of legendary drag racer Don “The Snake” Prudhomme.

Hot August Nights also welcomes back Alan Taylor of “The Drive” as this year’s Grand Marshall. Judging the Grand Marshall’s Show-n-Shine top picks are notable car enthusiasts and celebrities. The picks will be on display daily inside the Grand Theatre at Grand Sierra Resort and Casino.

Over a span of 10 days, Hot August Nights allows event-goers to revel in decades that have since passed and to venture into new beginnings. Whether it’s as a spectator or participant in one of the largest prize pool Show-n-Shines or as an attendee for a concert featuring tunes from classic entertainers, purchasing a new ride from the Hot August Nights Auction presented by Barrett-Jackson, or experiencing the thrill of brand new Corvette or Mustang, there is something timeless for everyone to experience.
