Fire crews continue to contain Red Rock Fire

image001Doyle, CA— At 06:00 a.m. today, the Red Rock Fire was transitioned over to the Sierra Front Management Type 3 Team, operating under Incident Commander Paul Washam. Previously the fire was under the operation of the Bureau of Land Management-Carson City District.

Today, firefighters throughout the region continue to contain the Red Rock Fire along the California/Nevada state Line near Doyle, CA.  The fire is 40-percent contained and estimated at 5,450 acres in size. Full containment is projected for July 5.

The crews will focus today on improving containment lines and mopping up hot spots. Firefighters have been faced with steep, rocky terrain, changing wind conditions, and high temperatures and evening rain and thunderstorms. No injuries have been reported and no structures have been lost.
