ELISA CAFFERATA NEWS RELEASE
Elisa Cafferata announced Monday that she will run for the open Reno City Council seat in Ward 2. Cafferata, a fourth generation Nevadan and mother of four, ages 14 to 25, has years of experience in the public, private and nonprofit sectors and is passionately committed to protecting our quality of life.
“I’m running for City Council because we need leaders who have a positive vision for Reno’s future,” said Cafferata. “I have a record of getting things done, and I want to help create a community where all of our children and grandchildren have opportunities to thrive.”
Cafferata is currently the president and CEO of Nevada Advocates for Planned Parenthood Affiliates, the education, policy and election arm of Planned Parenthood in Nevada. She has played a key role in major community projects including the Truckee River Flood Project, the Regional Water Plan and the Truckee Meadows Tomorrow Quality of Life Indicators Project.
“We need fresh perspectives on the City Council and leaders who are willing to work proactively to strengthen our community,” Cafferata said.
Elisa Cafferata is the oldest grand-daughter of Barbara Vucanovich, first woman elected to a federal office in Nevada, and the older daughter of Patty Cafferata, former Nevada state treasurer and first woman elected to a state constitutional office in Nevada. Elisa grew up in Reno and is a graduate of Reno High School and has an MBA from the University if Nevada, Reno.
